Ever have one of those mornings where you just cannot bear to wear the same tunic again? Tailoring is the skill which allows a character to make clothing, leather armor, backpacks, pouches, and some decoration.
A robe deed or dress deed will turn any chest armor into the appearance of a robe or dress, keeping its armor stats intact.
Harvesting[edit | edit source]
Before you can craft items, you'll need raw materials. Tailoring uses the following resources:
- Bolts of Cloth
- Leather (normal, spined, horned, or barbed)
- Item-specific resources (e.g. wood planks, iron ingots, etc.)
Leather can be obtained by skinning monsters and beasts (e.g. using a skinning knife or hunting knife). Different monsters will provide different types of leather when skinned.
Bolts of cloth can be created by harvesting cotton. Cotton fields are located outside of Vesper, Ocllo, and Magincia. Right-click on a cotton plant and select "Harvest" to gather cotton. Each cotton plant will yield 1 to 4 cotton and respawns after around 20 minutes.
Once you have cotton in your backpack, proceed to a loom and while standing next to the loom, double-click on the cotton in your inventory to automatically turn it into bolts of cloth. Cloth scraps can also be turned into bolts of cloth in the same way.
Crafting[edit | edit source]
To craft an item using the Tailoring skill:
- Obtain Scissors, purchasable from the NPC Weaver or Players and place them in your pack
- Stand near a loom
- Double-click the loom
- A menu will then appear, displaying various categories which contain craftable items
- Select the category and then the item you would like to craft
A list of ingredients will be displayed on the craftable item's page. Typically, all items craftable through the Tailoring menu require cloth and leather.
If the crafting attempt is successful, the item will appear in your backpack. If the player has a GrandMaster level of Arms Lore, there is an added 10% chance that the item crafted will be of 'exceptional' quality, increasing the durability of the item. At this time only Leather Armors have the chance to be exceptional.

Training[edit | edit source]
- 0-30: Buy skill book from NPC trainers
- 30-65: Bandit Hood (2 cloth)
- 65-80: Circle Rug (5 cloth)
- 80-90: Green Rug (5 cloth)
- 90-GM: Green, Red or Blue ornate rugs
Expect to need between 30k and 40k cloth to GM.
It's recommended to obtain two pouches and alternate one as a Crafting Pouch so everything you create can more easily be salvaged or trashed while training. (When craft pouch is full make the other pouch the craft pouch and salvage the full pouch, this way you don't turn the salvaged bolts of cloth into bandages).
